Safety Tips for Cell Phone Users

More and more people have wireless devices. These devices are convenient, but they have changed the way some people drive. Travel down the road and a quarter of the people are on the cell phones while driving.

According to recent studies, more than a quarter of people who have wireless devices say they don't drive as well as they should when they are on the phone in their vehicle. The distance you travel doesn't matter, cell phones should be used safely anywhere you go. Full focus on the road will give you a huge benefit by helping you avoid accidents. Here are some ways you can keep your phone with you on car rides and operate your vehicle safely:

  • Purchase a hands free device that will let you use your phone and still keep both hands on the wheel.
  • The people you speak to the most on your cell phone should be put on speed dial. This way to don't have to fumble around with your phone to bring up their number.
  • You phone should be somewhere that is easily reached when you are driving. If you can't safely get to your phone when you are driving, wait until you stop at a red light to check it.
  • If you have to take the call then tell your caller that you are driving. If the traffic or weather is bad then you should end the call.
  • If you need to take down a phone number or look up a number, you should pull over to a safe spot on the road.
  • Do not text message people when you are driving; this is very reckless.
